Susi was born and raised in Coronado. She currently resides in Pt. Loma where she has lived with her husband Tom for thirty-one years. She has a daughter Erin who is twenty six, and a nineteen year old son, Andrew.

Susi attended United States International University and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education. During her fifth year, she was a student teacher in the Poway School District.

In 1977, she attended San Diego State University for graduate work in Special Education. For two years while attending graduate school, she worked in a pre-school in Mira Mesa. Later, Susi took the opportunity to teach kindergarten in Escondido. She taught for four years until her daughter was born. While her daughter attended preschool, she returned to Escondido for two more years.

In 1983, Susi helped develop a kindergarten program for a new preschool opening in Sorrento Valley. She taught kindergarten there until her son was born in 1987. In 1990, Susi found out about Sandy Hill through a fellow teacher. Susi was immediately attracted to the wonderful and natural environment, and the gentle atmosphere Sandy Hill provides. She thought it perfect for her son. Andrew attended S.H for three years while

Susi taught pre-k and participated as a co-op parent.

Susi is going on her eighteenth year at Sandy Hill. She is happy to see her daughter Erin enjoy the Sandy Hill experience as a fellow teacher. Susi believes that, “Sandy Hill is a special place. You feel a sense of community not only for your child but for your whole family.”
