Paula Holden

Outdoor Class Teacher
Paula grew up in Claremont, California the child of a fourth generation teacher. She attended college at the Johnston Center at the University of Redlands and holds a combined degree in Anthropology and Literature. She has always been interested in education and how it relates to the individual. She completed her first anthropology field work at a Montessori school and also conceived and piloted a volunteer childcare program for a local women’s shelter during that time. She briefly taught freshman English and quickly realized she preferred her younger students.
She has worked at Park Dale Lane elementary as a playground supervisor and has enjoyed volunteering in her children’s classrooms over the years, particularly teaching gardening in kindergarten. She is currently homeschooling her daughter and exploring the common core with her son who is navigating a traditional educational path. She joined Sandy Hill in 2012 and feels blessed to have found a setting that truly values the individual child and celebrates childhood. She lives in Encinitas with her awesome husband, two great kids and Iris the wonder dog.
